My Favorite Hockey LPs
February 5th, 2010Since the Olympics are in our great city of Vancouver, I thought I should write something sports related. How could I combine Canada’s favorite pastime with the Beat Street Blog? I know… Hockey Records!
King Richard’s Army

This nice little picture cover 45 came out in ‘82 after the Canucks strong playoff performance that took them to Stanley Cup final against the NY Islanders. All hail King Richard!!
Vancouver Canucks

Features interviews, play-by-play, and hockey tips from the 1970s Vancouver Canucks. Even has a few lo-fi drum breaks for producers to mine.
Hockey Night In Canada

2 LP CBC LP contains interviews, hockey history, play by play exerpts, and of course the legendary Hockey Night In Canada theme song. The CBC was crazy enough to give up the rights to the theme song a few years back, which TSN instantly grabbed for their own purposes. A Classic!
Great Moments Of Hockey

Another CBC record featuring highlights of the early days of hockey- play by play, interviews, history and more!
Guy LaFleur
Hilarious disco record with Guy Lafleur talking over top of generic disco music, giving his tips on how to play hockey. This gatefold LP also comes with an awesome poster of a bare chested Guy in all his glory.
The disco delivery blog has in-depth history of this lp.
Stompin Tom Connors

Its the best game you can name- the good ol’ hockey game!
Frank Mahovolich
Toronot Maple Leaf legend was so revered he caused a riot when he was suspended. Here he shares his best hockey tips for aspiring young hockey players.
