2016's Glory, Britney Spears' last album to date, debuted at No. 3 on Billboard's Top 200 album chart and marked the pop icon's tenth Top 5 showing. Her ninth studio effort overall was preceded by the sexy mid-tempo R&B-influenced ballad, "Make Me..." feat. G-Eazy. Britney worked with a number of hit writers and producers on Glory including Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels, BURNS, Cashmere Cat, Mattman & Robin, Jason Evigan, and Oak among others.
Critics raved about what Spears considers one of her favorite albums: Rolling Stone said, "Glory is another fantastic comeback," and that Britney is "a true pop visionary"; Entertainment Weekly added, "It's her most engaging album vocally"; People Magazineclaimed Glory was "her strongest album in a decade"; the Los Angeles Times stated it's, "an album that carries her one-of-a-kind electricity"; The Daily Beast commented that, "her vocals in Glory actually have personality, character, and emotion"; and Vanity Fair proclaimed, "this album is as fresh and vibrant as most mainstream pop releases of 2016."
