Neil Young - American Stars N' Bars LP

Reprise

Remastered from the Original Analog Tapes at Bernie Grundman Mastering and Approved by Neil Young Himself: American Stars 'N Bars Includes "Like a Hurricane," Features Guest Emmylou Harris

1977's American Stars 'N Bars is the gold-certified eighth solo studio effort from trailblazing music luminary Neil Young and follow-up to 1975's Zuma. Cut at four separate recording sessions dating back to 1974, Young co-produced the roots 'n' rock 9-song affair with David Briggs and Tim Mulligan and it offers a mixed bag of the many styles the mercurial singer/songwriter had explored on prior outings. There's beautiful country-rock material ("The Old Country Waltz," "Star of Bethlehem"), introspective acoustic solo numbers ("Will to Love"), and extended ragers ("Like a Hurricane") not to mention guest appearances by Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris and Nicolette Larson on backup vocals plus the always consummate Crazy Horse, which absolutely steals the show!
