Sparse finger picked guitar and rolling piano support Mason’s vocal in this intimate and touching song of hope. “Blood Red Sun”. Mason grew up loving heavy metal and Westerns. He still loves them. This song brings the two together in a story about a man on the run for a crime he may or may not have committed. Understated and dark, the song becomes even heavier by what is left out. “Joy In The Face Of It All” was the first song written for this album. It is an ode to the current state of the world and a song of hope for the people who still believe in democracy, equality, science, love, and inclusion. It’s a song about building a better future together by looking inward, finding strength in community, and choosing joy.
