Blending hip-hop with traditional soul and jazz vocal stylings, neo soul singer-songwriter Erykah Badu took the music world by storm with her 1997 debut album Baduizm. Politically and socially engaged, Badu drew flattering comparisons to music luminaries and evident influences like Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. Baduizm rose all the way to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart and scored a big hit and Grammy with the song "On & On." Better yet, Baduizm took home the Grammy for Best R&B Album. Continuing with their Respect The Classics campaign, UMe will be reissuing this album in its entirety on double vinyl for the first time.
