After releasing their sizzling underground dancefloor EP “Enjoy The Ride” in 2015, Social Lovers are back with a double sided powerhouse. Combining subtle and withdrawn, melodic and low key structures, always punctuated by a driving funky drum machine beat, Matty P. and Meg Doherty are an unstoppable sultry synth duo, making 80s inspired modern funk music, with “Drop Me A Line” fitting right in with their past catalog, but bringing a newly inspired NYC basement flavor to the play. Meg pushes her lotion butter voice forward over the beat, and calls for you to give her a “buzz” if you need a lift. The flip side slows it down to a dim candle in a small room, while Meg aches about trust and devotion, and before you know it, a saxophone whisks you in the dampness, and catches your heart off guard. Social Lovers have done it again here, and this 7” single makes us yearn for more.
